Corals that are resistant to climate change found!

You are probably very familiar with the negative effects that global warming and ocean acidification can unleash on the fate of corals. But have you heard of corals that are resistant to the effects of climate change?

Interestingly, researchers from Bar-Ilan University and Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne found that corals from Gulf of Aqaba in the Red Sea were able to exhibit normal physiological function and produce offspring that share the same functions despite being subjected to extreme climate change conditions.

If climate change were to persist in the decades to come, would the Gulf of Aqaba be the only place left on Earth where corals continue to thrive?

Read more about this research finding, which was published in the The Journal of Experimental Biology.
