Chemical compounds and their place in our daily lives - will we know them enough?

How might we spark the curiosity of our students and empower them with the relevant scientific attitudes, mindsets and knowledge in navigating the world around them?

The answer might lie in the way we bring the learning of Chemistry to them - in ways that are more relatable, personable, practical, and more holistic in terms of where the concepts sit in the broader picture of their daily lives.

In this year's IPSG on "Transforming the Teaching and Learning of Chemistry", we were fortunate to have Dr. Chan Kim Seng from Victora Junior College who shared many interesting and relevant examples of how Chemistry concepts, facts and knowledge could be infused into the teaching of Chemistry in class and also in life. Apart from being amazed at how he managed to derive those insights about life and philosophy from Chemistry, we also noticed where he obtained his inspiration from. Head over to Compound Chemistry to unravel new Chemysteries!

By the way, did you manage to bookmark any interesting ones you would like to use for your lessons this year/next year? Don't forget to tag them somewhere visible - before you forget by the time it comes!

TIll next time!
